Horsemanship?
Want to Improve Your
Roxanne works with horses and people to improve their horsemanship, horse riding skills, and communication. Roxanne strives to help people with their self-awareness and be the best version of themselves for their horses. She loves helping people have a better connection, better communication, and better bond with their horses.

Who is Roxanne?
Roxanne has been a horse riding instructor since early 2017 and has developed a love for learning from horses. She teaches people of all ages and abilities, and has a focus on confidence building, horse communication and using the foundations of dressage to ride our horse effectively and with consideration.
What Does Roxanne Teach?

Horsemanship
Roxanne teaches horsemanship from the ground up including horse care, tending to sore bodies, desensitising, lunging, lateral movements and more. Set you and your horse up for success from the moment you meet them at the paddock gate.

Groundwork
Groundwork is where all the problems are fixed and success is set up for not only your horse, but you as well. Learn how to connect with the horse's head, front feet and back feet from the ground before you get on their back. It's easier to see and feel what's happening with feet on the ground.
Don't run before you can walk.

Communication
What is your horse trying to say?
Learn how to listen to your horse and make the two of you a team and not a dictatorship. Gain trust and respect from your horse and show them you are listening.

Ridden Work
Once groundwork is established, then we can work on how to translate those skills and communication to up on their back. Still focusing on the head, the front feet and the back feet, we want to connect ground to saddle. From here, you'll learn how to build upon the basics and use patterns, poles and transitions to improve you communication and connection.

Breathing
Who knew breathing wasn't quite as involuntary as we all thought? Roxanne focuses on using breath work not only to remain calm and relaxed for you and your horse but also as a simple aid for riding, leading and lungeing.

Foundational Dressage
This kind of dressage is the stuff all riders use, not just the Grand Prix sport kind. These skills translate to any equestrian discipline including jumping, western sports, and especially "simply trekking out". This is the riding basics to get you and your horse working together no matter what.
